Think fast with the Chain Game

The Chain Game links words, by using a word you hear, then combining it with another word, but not repeating a full word of what has already been said. Here is an example:

Player 1 reads: "Weekend"
Player 2 thinks: "Weekday"
Player 3 thinks: "Weeknight"
Player 4 thinks: "Stary night"
Player 1 thinks: "Good night"
Player 2 thinks: "Good Bye"
Player 3 thinks: "Good Riddens"
Player 4 thinks: "Good Bye"

--- Oops. Player 4 looses this round because of the Repeat, and must give one link in his/her chain to another player. In the end, the person with the most links in his/her chain wins! Try it out with the other cards in the picture.

This game is fun and it really gets you thinking about those short one/two common words that we use in life. This game is very enjoyable. You can find it in the Thinking/Reasoning Section of PERC.

New Puzzle Game

This new puzzle game is called "Animal Logic". In this game you must bring every animal individually across the bridge to safety, while at the same time matching it to the board card.






There are different levels of difficulty. But, there is only one bridge, and the animals must cross one by one. There are 4 different colors (red, yellow, blue, and green) and there are 4 different animals (hippo, lion, giraffe, came) Every color has 4 of each animal.






You must figure out the pattern on the card, and must transfer the animals across the river. Check it out. Good luck!

The Solid Wood Game

This game is called Octiles. It may be played with 2-4 players . The objective is to get your colors to the side that is directly opposite from you-- while using the different tracks to guide your way. The first player to get all his/her colors to the opposite side will achieve the status as "winner".


The set up includes setting the board and it's pieces in place, stack the playing pieces just like it's shown in the picture, each player takes a turn at laying the track down and moving their piece. Just as it is shown in the picture. You will get stuck, but must strategically place your tracks in the right place.

This is a fun filled family game perfect for 8 year olds to adults. This maze-crossing path-changing strategy game comes with instructions and playing pieces.It can be found in the thinking and reasoning section in The Parent Education Resource Center.

Muggins or Knock-Out ?

Two games in one, called Muggins and Knock-Out. You get to choose which competitive game to play. This set of games is great for ages 8 to adult, and you will have fun challenging yourself and your opponents! Here is a brief overview of how to play both games.

In Muggins, you roll the dice and use math to create a number, with that number place your colored marble into the open number hole.

Knock-Out is a fun game that is similar to Muggins, but if the number you want is filled you can "Knock- [it] Out" and place your marble in the open spot.
